Our premium organic cacao powder is produced from the Arriba Nacional bean, an heirloom variety of the Forastero bean. This bean is prized as a fine cacao throughout South America for its unique fragrance and smooth, complex flavor profile.
The Arriba cacao owes its prized taste and distinct aroma to its unique growing environment. Workers harvest the pods by hand, dry them in the sun, and lightly ferment them to coax out the rich cacao flavor. They then press the beans to extract the cacao butter, yielding a pure, unsweetened, nutrient dense organic cacao powder.
